Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he spent his childhood in the neighborhoods of Los Prados and later Arroyo Hondo. In 1989, he graduated from Colegio Dominicano De La Salle and, driven by his dream of becoming a professional pilot, moved to the United States.

His first step was a year as an exchange student in St. Louis, Missouri, where he improved his English and researched aviation universities. It was there that he discovered Parks College at St. Louis University, which he chose for its prestige and strong relationship with United Airlines, believing that with hard work and dedication he could one day join the airline.

In May 1995, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science and, after gaining experience at Fine Air—a cargo airline based in Miami, where he flew the legendary DC-8, logging 1,100 hours as a flight engineer and 1,300 hours as first officer—he joined United Airlines on November 15, 1999.

At United Airlines, his career has been broad and diverse, with experience across multiple aircraft and positions:

  • 126 hours as Flight Engineer on the Boeing 727.
  • 2,300 hours as First Officer on the Airbus A319/A320.
  • 3,100 hours as First Officer on the Boeing 737 family (300/500/700/800/900).
  • 3,100 hours as First Officer on the Boeing 757/767.
  • 700 hours as First Officer on the Boeing 777-200/300.
  • Over 2,600 hours as Captain on the Boeing 757/767 (200/300/400 series).

In total, he has accumulated over 15,000 flight hours throughout his career.

After enduring two furloughs, the airline’s bankruptcy, and a merger, he finally achieved the rank of Captain at United Airlines, where he continues to develop his professional career.

Beyond aviation, he leads a fulfilling personal life: he is married and the father of three children.

Today, after more than two decades in commercial aviation, he considers his career a true blessing. Fulfilling his childhood dream of flying as a professional pilot remains the greatest reward of his life.
